Tracy L. Fried – A nationally recognized advocate for equal treatment of foster youth, Ms. Fried has extensive expertise in drawing together a broad coalition of stakeholders to improve educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth through systemic change. With over 20 years of experience working closely with school districts, postsecondary institutions, child welfare, probation, local law enforcement, Juvenile Court, current and former foster youth, youth on probation, community agencies, care providers, and philanthropists. Ms. Fried has a proven track record of implementing change. She has led national, state, and local taskforces on foster youth education and youth violence prevention, and created plans such as the FYSI (Foster Youth Success Initiative), which positively impact thousands of foster youths’ lives by implementing strategy and changes in the way educational resources are researched and deployed.
Her accomplishments include:
- » Working with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) to develop and implement the nationally recognized statewide community college Foster Youth Success Initiative (FYSI). Served on national taskforces to raise awareness and improve access for foster youth pursuing postsecondary education.» Establishing an award-winning, nationally-recognized countywide initiative to improve educational outcomes for youth in foster care in San Diego – graduation rates increased from 51% to 76% over five years.» Developing and implementing gang / youth violence prevention and intervention programs throughout Los Angeles County.
Lori Scott Clarke serves as Strategies’ Statewide Quality Assurance Specialist for training and technical assistance. Through her own consulting business, Convergent Horizons, she provides consultation to the California Child Welfare Council co-chaired by California’s Secretary of Health and Human Services Diana Dooley and Justice Vance Raye of the California Supreme Court. Since 2001, she has coached and mentored trainers across a broad spectrum of topics in human services locally, regionally, and nationally. From its inception, she was the chief facilitator, and a consultant for California’s Child Welfare Services Stakeholders Redesign Group, a governor’s project designed to propose strategies for improving California’s child welfare system.
Ms. Clarke has served on the national faculty for the California Breakthrough Series Collaborative (BSC) on Differential Response, as well as the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare Practice.
As a TLFA Associate, she contributes to product and training design and delivery.
Kerry Flanagan is an Alumni of Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. Coming back to the town she graduated High School from, Kerry is now an Associate of Tracy L. Fried in Encinitas, CA. Delighted to be making a difference in the lives of others, Kerry assists with the organizational and marketing aspects of conference planning, as well as document development. As an aspiring Fashion Designer, with a degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising, Kerry loves to sew and design clothes when not working. Kerry also enjoys doing Bikram Yoga and Roller Derby.
Laurie L. Maglione is an attorney, and she spent six years working in the real estate field. She currently works as an associate consultant with Tracy L. Fried, as well as an employment attorney for the San Diego Employee Rights Center. Laurie’s broad range of expertise includes the resolution of all matters related to real estate and title, as well as the management of wage and hour claims on behalf of low-income employees. Laurie continues to commit herself to the advocacy of the needs of those in underserved communities throughout California.
Laurie was admitted to the California Bar in 2005. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Spanish in 2001, and received her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2005 with a Certificate in Public Interest Law. Laurie has lived in San Diego since 2006, and enjoys knitting and spending time with her family.
Jacqueline Phelps a creative freelance graphic designer originally from Syracuse, New York. Her expertise in designing materials for a more enjoyable read is an asset to the Tracy Fried team. Jacqueline also has years of experience as a corporate event producer and public speaker, which gives her the insight to know how to keep an audience interested in the materials presented. Jacqueline lives with her dog and enjoys anything artsy or outdoorsy. You can often find her hanging out at cultural events or in the woods camping.
Adrienne White holds an MBA from San Diego State University and has a diverse background in marketing, research, event planning, human resources, and hospitality. Adrienne joined TLFA because of her drive and passion for helping build a better tomorrow. As an Associate at TLFA she assists with marketing and conference planning, as well as the development of toolkits, proposals and other publications. Prior to her MBA, Adrienne received a dual BA in French Language and Literature, and Italian Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Later going on to complete a certificate in baking and pastry form the French Pastry School in Chicago, Illinois. When not working, Adrienne enjoys baking, hiking, yoga, volunteering, and spending time with family and friends.
